2022 ConnectiCare ACA-compliant

  • New plan: Passage HMO PCP Coins. $8,500
  • Regardless of renewal date, new ID cards will be mailed to all
    small group members in January 2022 due to a change in the dental provider to Healthplex.
    These new ID cards will include deductible and max out-of-pocket information.
  • All plans have Teladoc telemedicine included at no cost. For HSA plans, the deductible applies first
  • Pediatric dental and vision benefits are available through age 26
  • Colorectal cancer screening: There is no member cost beginning at age 45 (lowered from age 50)
  • Diabetic insulin: Covered at the applicable pharmacy tier cost-share up to $25 for each 30-day supply of a medically necessary covered insulin. 
  • Medically necessary diabetic devices and diabetic ketoacidosis devices: Covered at the applicable pharmacy tier cost-share or DME/DMS diabetic medical benefit up to a cost-share maximum of $100 per 30-day supply. 
  • The dental portion of ConnectiCare medical plans that include dental coverage will be administered by Healthplex beginning January 2021, regardless of renewal date.
  • All Health Connections plans, plan names, and rates are identical to those sold directly through ConnectiCare.

2022 CBI Plan Information*

  • 2022 CBI Plan Summaries
  • New plan: Choice Silver B POS
  • CBI plans are available for quoting on Choiceware. Benefit Central, Health Connect, and Benefix  
  • The CBI network and drug formularies are different. Please advise your clients to check providers and prescription drugs prior to enrolling in a CBI plan to be sure their doctors are in-network and their drugs are covered.
  • Participants in CBI plans use the Passage or Choice network as noted in the plan name.
  • Participants in CBI plans use this drug list.
  • CBI plans can be elected alongside all Health Connections medical plans. New forms that include all plans are available for new and renewing business.
  • There is no minimum participation required to enroll in CBI plans if the group meets Health Connections participation rules.
  • CBI plans appear on the last page of the medical renewal illustration titled “ConnectiCare Benefits Inc (CBI).”
  • ID cards for those enrolled in CBI plans will show the Access Health CT logo as their provider
  • HSA/HRA integration with HealthEquity is not available with CBI plans.
  • Evidence of Acceptance (EOAs) will be issued to CBIA Health Connections groups that choose to purchase ConnectiCare Benefits, Inc. (CBI) plans. EOAs sent to Health Connections groups will only pertain to CBI plans. EOAs will be available on the CBIA agent website.

* Plans are ConnectiCare-direct plans, underwritten by ConnectiCare Benefits, Inc. (CBI), and are not part of the CBIA Service Corporation (CBIASC) policy. These plans may be purchased by Health Connections program participants with aggregated billing and administration.


Fixed Funding Solutions (5-50 employees)

  • There are no plan changes for 2022.
  • Existing Client illustrations (ECIs), if applicable, are now posted online with ACA-compliant plan renewals.
  • The broker bonus, implementation credits, and the surplus guarantee incentives are extended through January 2022.
  • Fixed Funding Solutions renewing groups do not need to be submitted through Choiceware for approval.
  • Individual Medical Questionnaires (IMQs) are not required for renewing groups.
  • Reports for renewing groups are available on our agent website.
  • If a surplus exists after the run-off period (4 months after renewal) a check for 50% of the surplus will be mailed to the employer.
  • Wellness rewards by WellSpark are available to all Fixed Funding Solutions members.

Fixed Funding Solutions (51 or more employees)

HealthEquity HSA/HRA Integration 

  • Integration with HealthEquity is available at no additional cost
  • Brokers and renewing employers will receive reminder emails directly from HealthEquity 90 and 60 days prior to their renewal. 
  • Please notify CBIA if a new or renewing group wants to add or change HealthEquity integration and indicate which plans and funding structure will be added
  • Employers must log in to their HealthEquity employer portal to complete their renewal online and confirm funding arrangement details.

Broker Compensation

The Consolidated Appropriations Act, (CAA) included various transparency provisions. One of those provisions requires brokers to disclose compensation greater than $1,000 to the employer and describe services they provide in return.

Also, ConnectiCare has reduced the compensation on 1-2 life groups from $20 to $15.
